One of the many early contributions Saratoga Springs has made to our culture is the invention of the original potatoe chip. According to the story George Crum, the owner of Moon's Lake House in 1853, invented the over salted, thinly sliced and over-fried potatoes as a way to vent his frustration towards a complaining patron. The patron instead found Crums invention to be delicious and "Saratoga Chips" began to be served in restaurants across the country. Many of the restaurants in Saratoga Springs commemorate Crums invention by serving home made potatoe chips as appetizers on their menu. The Saratoga Salsa and Spice Company on broadway recently launched their own version of this original "Saratoga Potatoe Chip" which is just one of the many shops, bars and café's to be enjoyed year-round in downtown Saratoga Springs.

• Saratoga Battlefield -- Actually located in the town of Stillwater 15 miles southeast of Saratoga Springs, this was the location of the famous battle that turned the tide of the Revolutionary War.
• Saratoga Race Course -- Opened on August 3, 1863, this is the oldest and longest continuous running sporting venue in the United States.
• Saratoga Performing Arts Center -- Also known by its acronym SPAC is home to a variety of concerts such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York City Ballet, and well as Rock concerts.
