Queensbury is a town in and the county seat of Warren County. The town is named in honor of Queen Charlotte, the consort of George III of Great Britain and Ireland. The Town of Queensbury is located in the southeastern part of Warren county. Queensbury surrounds the city of Glens Falls on three sides. Much of the commercial development in Warren County has occurred in the town of Queensbury. The Queensbury outlets, located between exits 20 and 21 of the Adirondack Northway (Route 87) and only a short drive up Route 9 (about 5-10 minutes) to the Village and South shoreline of Lake George.

Queensbury is a town of the first class, and as such has a Town Board with one Supervisor and four Councilmen. The town established a ward system in 1985, whereby the town was divided into wards. While the Supervisor is elected by the entire town electorate, each councilman is elected by only the electorate of the ward they will be representing. The town also has an Ethics Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals.

The town of Queensbury falls within four public school districts:

• Glens Falls City School District
• Hudson Falls Central School District
• Lake George Central School District
• Queensbury Union Free School District

• Assembly Point -- A hamlet located on a peninsula by the same name.
• Brayton -- A hamlet in the northeastern part of town.
• Cleverdale -- A hamlet located on Ripley Point, a peninsula.
• East Lake George -- A hamlet in the northern part of the town and including part of the Town of Fort Ann. The hamlet has been attempting to incorporate into a village since 2005.
• Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport -- An airport, also known as the Warren County Airport, in the southeastern part of the town.
• French Mountain -- A hamlet northwest of Glen Lake that shares its name with the mountain to its northeast.
• Glen Lake -- A lake and hamlet north of Glens Falls North.
• Glens Falls North -- a census-designated place along the northern border of Glens Falls.
• The Great Escape -- A theme park, part of the Six Flags chain of theme parks, is located in northwest Queensbury. In 2006, The Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark opened up across the street from the theme park.
• Harrisena -- An early settlement roughly following State Route 9L in the northern section of the town which borders Lake George. Granted to American Revolutionary War spy Moses Harris for his service in the war.
• Lake Sunnyside -- A small lake and hamlet in the east-central portion of the town.
• Oneida Corners -- A hamlet at the modern junction of Sunnyside Road and State Route 9L.
• Paradise Beach -- A hamlet south of Glen Lake.
• Queensbury -- On several older maps, a hamlet of Queensbury is located in the northeast part of the town near the border with the town of Fort Ann. There is no modern delineation.
• Rockhurst -- A hamlet in the vicinity of Sheldon Point, a peninsula.
• West Glens Falls -- A hamlet and census-designated place bordering the west side of the City of Glens Falls.
• West Mountain -- A downhill skiing area in the southwestern part of town. Get there using exit 18 of the Adirondack Northway (Route 87).
